Terms & Conditions
These terms set out the deal between you and Word Wizards when you use the app. Please read them — by creating an account or using the service you agree to them.

This is a starting-point draft for review, not legal advice. It has been written to be clear and honest, but it has not been checked by a qualified lawyer. Before Word Wizards launches publicly, a solicitor should review and adapt these terms for the business, its jurisdiction, and how it actually handles data and payments.
What Word Wizards is
Word Wizards (“the service”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) is an online spelling-practice game for children. A grown-up adds a child’s spelling words, and the child practises them through games, phonics exercises, tests, and spaced review. The app is designed to be dyslexia-aware and child-friendly.
The service is provided on an ongoing basis and may change over time as we add, improve, or remove features. We may also suspend or withdraw the service, or parts of it, if we need to.
Who the service is for
Word Wizards is intended to be used by children under the supervision of a responsible adult (a parent, carer, or guardian). Accounts are created and managed by an adult, who must be at least 18 years old and legally able to agree to these terms.
One adult account can look after several children through separate child profiles. As the account holder, you are responsible for the profiles you create, for supervising the children who use them, and for making sure that use of the app is appropriate for each child. You confirm that you have the authority to add each child’s details and to agree to these terms on their behalf.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account login details secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Please give us accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account. We may suspend or close accounts that are used in breach of these terms, or where we reasonably believe that is necessary to protect the service or other users.
Acceptable use
When using Word Wizards, you agree not to:
- use the service for anything unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent;
- add content — including spelling words, names, or profile details — that is offensive, abusive, or infringes anyone else’s rights;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service, other accounts, or the systems and networks behind it;
- interfere with or disrupt the service, or try to get around any security or usage limits;
- copy, scrape, resell, or commercially exploit the service or its content without our permission;
- use automated systems to access the service in a way that places an unreasonable load on it.
You are responsible for any content you add. If content you add breaches these terms, we may remove it and, where appropriate, suspend the account.
Third-party services
To run the app we rely on trusted third-party providers who process data on our behalf, including hosting and infrastructure (Vercel), our database and authentication (Supabase), text-to-speech for spoken words (MiniMax), AI features such as definitions, tags, and explanations (OpenRouter), and video generation (Pruna).
These providers process data only to deliver the service. How personal data is handled is described in our Privacy Policy. Your use of the service may also be subject to the relevant providers’ own terms where applicable.
Intellectual property
The service, and everything in it that we provide — including the software, design, artwork, characters, sounds, text, and branding — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property law. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for its intended purpose while you comply with these terms.
The spelling words and other content you add remain yours. By adding content, you give us permission to store and process it as needed to provide the service to you (for example, generating audio, definitions, and practice exercises from the words you add).
No warranty
We work hard to make Word Wizards useful and reliable, but the service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet any particular educational outcome. Our methods are grounded in reading research, but no app can guarantee that a child’s spelling will improve.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, conditions, and terms that are not expressly set out here.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss of profit, loss of data, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the service. Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us for the service (if any) in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time — for example, to reflect changes to the service or the law. When we make material changes, we will update the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, let you know. If you continue to use the service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms, and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or your use of the service, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your home nation.
